have a great day. good morning. it is 4:30. 78 degrees already on this friday, september 4th. finally getting a break from the 90-degree temperatures but still a chance of showers today. but the the holiday weekend looks great. with that, good-bye everybody. >> yeah, later. >> good if morning. i'm chris wragge. >> and i am in for mary calvi. traffic and weather on the 2s in a moment. but first, a police involved shooting in brooklyn that has left one person injured. >> we are live at the scene. >> reporter: good morning to you. that person injured apparently a man who fired multiple shots at police here overnight. and right now, police are working two crime scenes. one right here near jefferson and broadway where the suspect
was eventually taken into custody. this all started around 1:30 this morning. investigators believe that the suspect may have been involved in an earlier shooting incident when police caught up with him near 1266 madison street. shots were fired. at this point, it's not clear who fired first. no officers were hit but the suspect we're told was struck in the leg. eventually officers were able to take him into custody the here at jefferson and broadway. the suspect right now in custody at kings county hospital. it's still very much an active investigation as police continue to try to piece this all together. reporting live, cbs 2 news. >> okay. thank you. the wreckage of a cessna plane sat on sock iser field in new jersey last -- on a soccer field in new jersey last night. after the pilot reported engine trouble. this morning the two people
onboard are listed in serious condition. chopper 2 was over the scene last night. you can see workers carrying one person away on a stretcher. >> you see a plane only about 50 feet off the ground you start to think, something's wrong. >> there was a pool over here with people in it. there was a baseball field over here behind us. >> those witnesses believe the pilot successfully maneuvered away from the venues and the homes in the area, possibly ground. traffic for traffic and -- the 2s. >> hi everybody. happy friday to you. maybe you're getting ready to hit the road. we are going the see cooler temperatures. still sticky. and maybe some of that needed rain. we need the rain. now. wind out of the north at 3 miles per hour. and relative humidity at 63%. nuts. the screen. there's some clouds in central
and south parts of jersey. the front still to the west but we will see another ridge build in over the weekend. numbers are going to be down but with the shower chance, the humidity values will stay up but the number, nowhere near where they used to be. and more comfortable tonight into your super saturday. hopefully the commute is super right now. how busy is it? we have a couple alerts from the overnight hours. we have a truck fire. the right lane is blocked on the northbound side of the new jersey turnpike truck lanes. and we have construction blocking two lanes on the eastbound side of statten island expressway at bradly avenue. just minor delays. and switching problems at 36th street in queen, brooklyn bound trains running on the m line alternate side of the street parking rules are in effect city-wide.
police have made an arrest in connection with a drone incident during the u.s. open. the drone flew over the match last night and crashed into an empty section of seats. investigators say a 26-year- old, a department of education employee, is now facing several charges, including reckless operation of a drone. it happened during a match. some fans posted photos on social media. luckily no one was hurt. more on story coming up in next half hour. shattered nerves and shattered glasses, two cars crash through front windows of a wendy's in new jersey and it's not the first time customers have had to dodge a car in this location. >> reporter: workers examine a support beam put in place to shore up the damaged restaurant after a mini van and a car crashed into the wendy's near the road exit on route 4. >> i was just hoping to get the cars out without the building falling down.
>> reporter: he was on the scene minutes after the crash. and says the mangled wood, glass and steel inside was something to see. >> one of the drivers was in shock, crying. her and her, i guess, i assume boyfriend, and the other driver, she had a child. thank god the child was all right. >> reporter: in fact, there were no serious injuries. >> the fact that no one died, what do you think? >> i think that's wonderful. but it was scary. very scary. i mean, this is the second time it happened. >> reporter: indeed, just two and a months ago, a wendy's customer was hospitalized after this suv slammed into the restaurant. >> police say the driver of the red toyota caused the accident and was ticketed for careless driving. two former employees of a new jersey day care center will be in court. they are accused of encouraging children ages 4 to 6 to fight on the playground.
one allegedly took video and shared it with friends on snapchat. investigators are hoping for new leads as they continue to search for if a man accused in a disturbing attack in queens. police say the 59-year-old was left badly burned after the man threw chemicals in her face back on august 19th. she says she did not know her attacker. we have an update on the case of a missing long island jogger. a family member says he is safe and well in the state of montana this morning. he called up his father and said he's okay. he went for a run on monday and never returned to his home. no other details were released. well the scarlet knights will be without five players when they kick-off their football season tomorrow. four have been arrested and one remains at-large. they are charged with three home invasions and with assaulting a 19-year-old
student near cam -- campus. >> he was there for maybe about a day or two. we were all sad because he's such a great person and he wasn't doing anything wrong. >> rutgers said, quote, the students are suspended from our program. we continue to monitor the situation. a defiant county clerk in kentucky is waking up in jail this morning. a judge put kim davis behind bars yesterday for refusing to issue marriage licenses for gay couples. she insisted her religious beliefs prevented her from following the law. the gop front runner threatened to run as an independent but yesterday he signed a party pledge vowing to stay faithful. >> the best way for the republicans is to win is if i
win the nomination and go directly against whoever they happen to put up. and for that reason, i have signed the pledge. >> the other republican candidates say they'll also support the nominee including jeb bush who stepped up his attacks on donald trump yesterday. >> his view is, let's close the border, let's create tariff, all based on negativity. >> according to a new poll, trump has 30% nationally, up four points from before the first debate. patriot's quarterback tom brady is free to play. yesterday a judge overturned brady's four-game suspension for the deflategate scandal procedures. he sat out last night's presan francisco season game but he is expected to take the field next week against the pittsburgh fans had mixed reactions. beginning. >> it sends a bad message to

well good morning. we made it through the week. 78 degrees here at 4:42. so what will the holiday weekend look and feel like? time for traffic and weather on the 2s. john -- >> very nice. i mean, looking at a little unsettled weather today. super saturday. and then the heat returns. heat and humidity in fact in time for your labor day monday. 77 little neck. and this comment, nice weather to celebrate labor day with chris. make sure you say thanks to those laboring. some of us will be laboring on monday. maybe you too. and this is interesting, anthony always counting down, 112 days until christmas. how about that? and charlie sent in this. this is from the delaware river. very dry. and we are dry.
we desperately need the rain. and not much in the forecast. show you the futurecast in a second. in the city right now, rain- free, you bet. clear and 78. winds north at 3 miles per hour. and feels comfortable, humidity 63%. it's still a little humid. 73 in white plains. 67 in the hamptons. tell you what, temperatures actually up a bit from yesterday. this afternoon, they're going to be down a lot. due the points still in the mid -- dew points still in the mid- to upper 60s. so yeah, numbers much better, 80 at lunchtime. will feel like 82. feels like the mid-80s. and over 10 degrees cooler than yesterday. and mostly, yeah, it's moon glow out there right now with a little bit more cloud cover in new jersey.
some wet weather, a little disturbance through buckeye state. you see widely scattered showers. one feature will be more clouds. cloudy the today, i should say. definitely more than the cloud cover from yesterday. and look at that. i mean, more of a gray get away day with a few showers. and then saturday shapes up, it's nice and bright for your saturday morning fun. and then saturday into sunday, stays very pleasant. in fact, it starts to warm up sunday into monday. humidity will be on the rise as well. 82 today. left over showers. tonight, you start to feel better. the it's cooler. and it's drier. in fact, we're going to see some 50s north and west. and then work into sunday and monday. flirting with 90 again for your labor day. and there will be humidity as well. and then, a lot of kids heading back tuesday. look at that, 90 and sticky around. get ready to enjoy nice days and pretty nice holiday weekend as well.

police officer in fox lake, illinois. a homeowner came forward with the video from his home security system. police are searching for three men in the murder. and thousands of migrants poured into a train station in hungry and clashed with police. they began pushing their way in. they're mainly from the middle east and trying to reach germany. in the money watch this morning, stock futures down today after the markets ended mixed on thursday. today the focus turns to a key jobs report that could decide if the fed raises interest rates. the nasdaq composite lost 16. well, more cases of the familiar kraft singles cheese products are being recalled. in july, 36,000 cases were recalled. but that's now been raised to 335,000 cases the. the maker says a thin strip of packaging film may stick after the wrapper has been taken off,
creating a potential choking hazard. one, three and four-pound packages are affected. we're more than four months away from the release of the latest star wars movie. but fan cans now buy toys. think went on sale at midnight. and one toy that's getting a lot of attention, the robot baby 8 with the help of an app. it can roll and balance all by itself while exploring your home. and it can respond -- >> if it cleans the house, i want one. >> it will set you back $150. so it will clean your wallet. if your morning commute includes a ride on the subway, don't expect problems to be fixed any time soon. a report says it will take more than half a century to the repair all the system's known issues. >> reporter: corroding stairs and platform, not hard to find at many subway stations. and according to a recent report by the cbc, a non-profit
group, you will likely never see all the stations in good condition in your lifetime. >> basically at the current pace, there isn't a foreseeable future in which all are in a state of good repair. >> reporter: the mta assessed the condition of the 468 stations rating appearance and the overall safety. based on those numbers and recognizing the system is constantly in use, the cbc believes the mta would need more than 50 years to get all the repairs done. >> that's a lot of years. hopefully you know, they'll get all nice for our kids and that. >> there's a lot to do. there's a huge backlog. >> reporter: the report listed the 33 stations in the worst condition. about half of them were in queens, the worst, the no. 7 train station on 52nd street and woodside. >> need a fix, yeah. >> reporter: the cbc made several recommendation on speeding up the pace, primarily diverting expansion funds. the mta disagrees saying at a
time when growing ridership is leading to crowding, we must pursue expansion plans that will provide opportunities for customers. >> do you the think they should expand or fix what they have? >> fix what they have. instead of expanding. >> reporter: the mta says a big part of the problem is the program to fix the stations is underfunded and the city hasn't addressed the growing need for repairs and increased its contribution. cbs 2 news. >> and while the worst stations were reported to be in queen, the mta says they have recently invested millions of dollars there including 10 stations. >> daunting to think 50 years to cure the ills of all the subway stations. wow. coming up, how a weight loss app could be a key to fighting childhood obesity. and meet the tiger cub that caused quite the stir in one community. and we will get you another check of traffic and weather on the 2s on this holiday week
when we come back. a good morning to you all. 4:52. beautiful shot of the empire state building there. welcome back to cbs 2 news this morning. we are looking today at a cute little story of a tiger cub roaming the streets in california. a woman turned the three-month- old taker -- three-month-old tiger into the humane society after fining him walking around the neighborhood. they believe someone was keeping him as a pet and then abandoned him. >> a little feisty. >> i don't know that i would want to meet him on the subway. >> what the heck am i doing in los angeles? >> what could possibly go wrong? i feel bad. >> yeah, just to let it go. okay, so we don't have a tiger by the tail but we do have great weather to look forward to. it's a song. don't send any letters.

brooklyn, police have shot a suspect. >> janelle burrell joins us live from the scene with more. >> reporter: good morning to you. there was quite an exchange of gunfire between police and that suspect. ending with that suspect shot. and right now, you can see still quite an active scene as police get this investigation underway. they are working multiple scenes this morning. one here where we have seen detectives up and down the street as they work to put this all together. and now the suspect was believed to have been involved this morning. and was confronted by police. it's not clear at this point who fired first, but the shots were exchanged, ending with the suspect shot in the leg. he was chased a few blocks away custody. now we spoke with one man who asked not to be identified but he described seeing the suspect >> he was shot. you know, he was laying down. and that's just about it.
he just was waiting for the ems. >> reporter: and now no officers were shot during the gunfire exchange but they say that one gun was recovered, presumably from the suspect. the suspect is recovering in stable condition at kings county hospital. but still an active scene here this morning. reporting live from brooklyn, janelle burrell, cbs 2 news. >> all right. thank you. and now for an update on this summer. police have arrested two men this june. the 35-year-old was gunned down the night of june 29th. police say a 23-year-old and 24- car. they are both now charged with robbery and murder. in new jersey, police are look for the driver who dragged a gas station attendant during
a robbery last night. it was all caught on surveillance video. the driver asked for $10 in gas and then grabbed the apron which held about $1,500 in cash. and then they took off. he was not seriously injured. new this morning, there was a buzz in the stands at the u.s. open but not just over the tennis match. >> yeah, a drone flew over the court last night and crashed and now the nypd says they may have made an arrest in connection with the incident. we are live with an update. >> reporter: well, chris, police say a new york city schoolteacher is facing charges of reckless endangerment and reckless operation of a drone. one player on the court at the time said she initially thought the worst. >> she got one. >> reporter: the two were in the middle of their u.s. open match last night when all of a sudden, a drone crashed into an empty section of the stands.
>> seemed as if that fell from somewhere. a bit of a distraction. >> i think both players heard it. they both stopped and looked at the chair umpire. >> reporter: play stopped as the nypd and fdny surrounded it. a u.s. tennis association spokesman says the drone flew into the corner of the stadium from the east around 8:30 last night, before crashing. no one was injured. the announcers calling the match at first didn't know what it was. >> we have a moment here where we're not entirely certain as to what it is that landed in stands. whether it fell from above. whether it's something left behind. a projectile or a drone-like device. >> reporter: and she later said she thought it might have been a bomb. police say a public school teacher is now facing charges. police sources say he was flying it in the park near the stadium and lost control of it. well police tell us this was
not a terrorism threat. they say it is league for people to fly drones in new york city but it's not legal every place. -- it is league for people to fly drones in new york city but it's not league in every place. >> thank you. the new york state comptroller will announce next year's contribution rates to workers. they'll be lower the estimate which could have implications for local governments across the state. they could be forced to make up the difference for the retirement fund. time is now 5:08. coming up, destination outer space. how nasa plans to get off the ground with rockets of its own. i called them over and said, i thought it was 37. and he was like, oh. >> how some customers in new jersey say they're being overcharged at a gas station.

afternoon for those getting away for the holiday weekend. and an investigation into improper use of toll money has cost the toll authority $1.7 million in attorneys fees. the administration is led by the man hand at the district we will see how that plays out. an investigation is underway after gas station customers complain they're being scammed. >> reporter: it's the last place she expected to be cheated, her local delta gas station at 451 irvineington avenue in south orange, new jersey. but last month, she says the attendant or charged her credit card. >> i realized it seemed high. i went back and looked at the pump and noticed he charged me exactly $5 over. >> reporter: when she confronted the attendant --
>> there was no dispute. he fixed the error quickly by offering cash. >> reporter: tracy says the same attendant tried to pull the same scam on her last week. >> the pump said $37. and he charged me $42. i called him over and said, i thought it was $37. and he looked and he was like, oh, and again, pulled out $5. >> reporter: several residents in the area with similar storiers. they have taken to this community facebook page to warn others. when we went to the gas station, a man claiming to be the manager denies ripping off the customers. >> do you know anything about this? >> no, my customer, no problem. >> reporter: you haven't been overcharging customers? >> no. no complaints. >> reporter: we spoke with another man by phone who claimed to be the owner. he says his business isn't doing anything wrong but this gas station has been in trouble before according to the new jersey attorney general. they were fined for mixing premium and regular gas. the south orange police department tells us they've had

certainly came dangerously close as they tried to approach the suspect here overnight. you can see it's still very much an active scene. detectives are working the scene. still combing the area for evidence. but we want to show you this picture. a silver vehicle which is an unmarked police car. and you can see, if you look closely at least, one bullet hole that pierced the car in this cross fire. that's how close it came to striking the officers inside. and all of this began around 1:30 this morning when police were approaching the suspect who they believed was involved in another shooter nearby on madison street. at some point, shots were exchanged and the suspect was shot in the leg and eventually arrested near jefferson. we spoke with one man who asked not to be identified but described seeing the suspect down on the ground after police made the arrest. >> he was shot. you know, laying down. and that's just about it.
he just was waiting for the ems to come. and by that time, it was a lot of police enroute and police officers at the scene already. you know, taking out the tape, blocking off the area. >> reporter: and again, no officers hurt in this exchange of gunfire. one man in custody right now at kings county hospital where he was listed in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his leg. again, police still investigating this here this morning but they say they are not looking for any additional suspects at this time. reporting live from brooklyn, cbs 2 news. >> thank you. new this morning, the nypd has made an arrest after a drone flew over a tennis court and crashed during the u.s. open. we are live with an update. >> reporter: well, many people inside the u.s. open stadium had no idea at first what had happened but police this morning confirm a new york city
schoolteacher is now facing charges including reckless endangerment and reckless operation of a drone. >> one. she got one. >> reporter: the two were in the middle of their u.s. open match last night when all of a sudden, a drone crashed into an empty section of the stands. >> seemed as if that fell from somewhere. a bit of a distraction. >> i think both players heard it. they both sort of stopped and looked at the chair umpire. >> reporter: play stopped for a few moments as the nypd and fdny surrounded it. a spokesman says the drone flew into the southwest corner of the stadium from the east around 8:30 last night before crashing. the announcers calling the it was. >> we have a moment here where we're not certain as to what it is that landed in the stands. whether it fell from above. whether it's been left behind.
a projectile or a drone-like device. >> reporter: she later said she thought it might have been a bomb. police say a city public schoolteacher, a 26-year-old, is now facing charges. police sources say he was flying in the park near the stadium and lost control of it. and police tell us this was not a terrorism threat. they say it is league for people to fly drones in new york city but it's not legal -- it is legal for people to fly drones in new york city but it's not legal in every part. he is charged with operating a drone outside the prescribed area to do so. andrea grymes, cbs 2 news. >> thank you. the wreckage of a cessna plane remains on a soccer field in new jersey this morning where the plane crash landed yesterday afternoon after the pilot reported engine trouble. >> reported losing engine completely. >> the two people onboard are listed in serious condition. chopper 2 was over the scene
just before 5:00 last night. you can see emergency workers carrying one person away on a stretcher. >> you see a plane that's only going about 50 feet off the ground and kind of think, something's wrong. >> came around, avoided and there was a pool over here with people in it. there was a baseball field over here behind us. >> those witnesses believe the pilot successfully maneuvered the plane away from the venues and homes in the area, probably saving lives of people on the ground. happening today, two former employees of a cranford, new jersey day care center will be in court. the two are accused of encouraging children ages 4 to 6 to the fight on the playground of light bridge academy. one allegedly took video and shared it with friends on snapchat. prosecutors say she could be heard referring to the movie fight club as the children hit each other. and police are looking for a driver who dragged a gas station attendant during a robbery last month.
the driver asked for $10 in gas and then grabbed the apron which held about $1,500 in crash. the thief took off dragging the attendant more than 30 feet before the apron broke. the iran nuclear deal gets a thumb up from three more senators including new jersey senator booker. he issued a statement saying the it's better to support a flawed deal for the alternative is worse. not exactly a ringing endorsement. >> no. tom brady one, nfl zero. the quarterback wins in court after the judge overturns his four-game suspension. why the deflategate drama may not be over. take off all your clothe, do at this time now! >> a man runs naked in front of children and families in times square and there's nothing police can do it about it. find out why. i'm wearing a lovely blue blazer today.

the labor day releases the august's jobs report. it will be the most closely watched in years because it could be the deciding factor in whether the fed raises interest rates next month for the first time since the financial crisis. and the report gauges the u.s. economy after the wild swings in the stock market. and if you're one of the more than 30 million americans expected to hit the road this labor day weekend, some good news, cheap gasoline. aaa says the national average for a gallon of regular is about $2.44. it's a bit higher in new york. but it's still the lowest in more than a decade over the labor day break. and front-loading washing machines, they're more eco friendly than those that load from the top but they don't let you add items once you started the wash. until now. the newest machine has a hidden door that can be unlocked. and that way you can throw in a sock or other clothing that may have fallen out on the way to doing your laundry. >> not bad. thanks so much.

stick to 22, it will be a smoother ride for you. and alternate side of the effect city-wide. text and drive the. back to you. >> thank you. now to breaking news in brooklyn where a police- person injured. >> janelle burrell joins us live from the scene. >> reporter: yeah, we just got another update from police. you can see they are still here on the street where the street is still closed off as they continue to collect evidence at this hour. and we want to show you a picture taken from the scene earlier this morning. you can see that silver vehicle. it is an unmarked police car. hard to make it out from the pictures but investigators tell me it was hit with multiple bull ets by that suspect. -- bullets by that suspect. in an exchange of gunfire. police say the suspect had shot a man in the arm on madison street which is a few blocks away. when investigators say it appears the suspect began shooting at the officers themselves as they tried to
approach him. a single bullet hit the suspect in the calf. as those officers returned fire. and once that man was down on the ground at jefferson avenue near broadway, he was quickly taken into custody. and a bystander who was nearby at the time, he asked not to be identified but describes seeing the suspect as police approached. >> he was shot. laying there. and that's just about it. he was wait for you ems to come. and by that time, it was a lot of police enroute and police officers at the scene already. blocking off the area. >> reporter: again, a dangerously close call for police here this morning no. officers were hurt -- morning. no officers were hurt but the suspect was shot once in the leg. he is at kings county hospital where he is expected to the face a long list of charges.

reporting live this morning in queens, andrea grymes, cbs 2 news. >> all right. thank you. police are looking for the man who threw a metal garbage can into the windshield of a mta bus last month. they leased this image of the suspect. it happened around 9:30 at night at the corner of west 14th street and 7th avenue. police say they got into a dispute with the driver before threwing the can. the bus was damaged but the driver was not hurt. the rutgers scarlet knights tomorrow. they are accused in a series of crimes. four have been arrested and one remains at-large. they are charged with three home invasions and one assault. >> he did have to go to the had. he was there for maybe about a day or two. like we were all sad because he is such a great person and he wasn't doing anything wrong. >> rutgers released a statement saying, quote, the students involved are currently suspended.
we continue to monitor the situation. new york's governor has ordered a review of the state's common core curriculum. the panel reviewing the curriculum includes education expert, parent, teachers and lawmakers. same-sex couples are headed to the courthouse this morning after a clerk in kentucky is arrested for refusing to hand out marriage certificates. who is handing out the licenses in her absence. dangerous drive-thru, --

turned away by a kentucky county clerk will likely return to get their marriage licenses today a day after the clerk was sent to jail. kim davis spent the night behind bars after she failed to comply with a judge's order. we have the story from kentucky. >> reporter: the county clerk kim davis remains in jail this morning, a federal judge found her in contempt of court thursday for defying multiple court orders to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. >> love is in the a sin! >> reporter: the judge had given davis two chances to cooperate. he would have let her out if she agreed not interfere with the clerk's work. but she refused. april miller and her partner karen roberts have been waiting for this day. >> as a couple, it will be an important day in our lives. >> reporter: there's no telling how many couples will show up here. five deputy clerks told a judge they'll start issuing marriage licenses today. >> we believe that they were
sincere when they told the judge that they were going to start complying with the order. >> you are an enemy of god. >> reporter: in the heart of the bible belt, it came as a surprise to many. a number of christians are opposed to same-sex marriage. >> my grandfather and grandmother, my dad and mom, and all would turnover in their grave if they knew what was going on here. >> reporter: during davis' testimony, the born-again christian cried saying she believes god's moral law was high than the courts. >> she is not above the law. that's where we are. >> reporter: the judge ruled davis will remain in jail until she complies with his ruling. cbs news, kentucky. >> the governor of kentucky would have to convene a special session to change the law. the legislature isn't scheduled to meet until january. she could remain jailed until then. state prosecutors say they'll seek the death penalty against a suspect accused in the south carolina church massacre. 21-year-old dylann roof is charged with the murders of

and again, we can tell you no officers were injured. dangerously close. and . -- close. pictures. investigators say a car was hit hail of gunfire. police say the suspect had just madison street. police were trying to con front him when those shots -- confront him when those shots were exchanged the. the suspect was -- exchanged. the suspect was hit in the leg. and we with a man who asked not to be identified but he describes what he saw. >> he was shot. you know, laying down. and that's just about it. he just was waiting for the ems to come and by that time, it was a lot of police enroute and already.
you know, taking out the tape, blocking off the area. >> reporter: now police say that they did recover an automatic hand gun here at the scene. officers again were not hurt in that gunfire exchange. and we are told that they were treated at an area hospital for ringing in their ears. for the suspect, again, he was shot once in the leg p. he is stable this morning -- leg. he is stable this morning at kings county hospital. charges against him are penning. reporting live, janelle burrell, cbs 2 news. >> thank you. new this morning, the nypd has made an arrest after a drone flew over a tennis court open. here's andrea grymes. >> reporter: many people inside the stadium at the time had no idea what had happened. police say this morning a new york city public schoolteacher is facing charges including reckless endangerment and >> she got one.
>> reporter: it was the middle of a u.s. open match last night when all of a sudden, a drone crashed into an empty section of the stands. >> seems if that fell from somewhere. a bit of a distraction. >> reporter: the nypd and fdny surrounded it. a tennis association spokesman says the drone flew into the stadium from the east around 8:30 last night before crashing. no one was injured. the announcers calling the match at first didn't know what it was. >> we have a moment here where we're not entirely certain as to what it is that landed in the stands. whether it fell from above. whether it's been left behind. if it's a projectile or a drone- like device. >> reporter: she later said she initially thought it might have been a bomb. police say a city public
schoolteacher is now facing charges. police sources say he was flying nit the park near the stadium and lost control of it. police say it was not a terrorism threat. they say it is legal for people to fly drones in new york city but it's not legal everywhere in the five boroughs and he is facing a charge of operating a drone in a city park outside of the the designated area to do so. andrea grymes, cbs 2 news. >> thank you. the wreckage of a cessna plane remains on a soccer field in new jersey this morning where the plane crash landed yesterday afternoon after the pilot reported engine trouble. >> reported losing engine completely. >> this morning, two people onboard are listed in serious condition. chopper 2 was over the scene just before 5:00 last night. you can see emergency workers carrying one person away on a stretcher. >> you see a plane only about 50 feet off the ground and you think, something's wrong. >> came around, avoid -- there
